There is one question everybody has been asking since the Mets traded Jose Reyes. Will you boo Jose Reyes when he makes his return to Citi Field with the Marlins?
To give you an honest answer to the question, I wanted to boo Reyes when he signed that deal with the Marlins. I ripped down my fathead of him that was on my wall, and just felt like crap for about three weeks. I was just waiting for the day he would come back to Citi Field so i could unleash the boos.
However, now I have completely changed my view on the whole Reyes situation. The Mets weren’t going to bring him back, nor did they have the Money too. It’s not Reyes’ fault that the Marlins offered him a lot more money. And to all the haters out there saying “he went for the money”, you would have done the same. The Mets weren’t going to give him a contract in the same zip code as the Marlins. So to blame Jose Reyes is ludicrous.
You can blame Sandy Alderson for not pushing for Jose, but he didn’t have the money. You can blame Omar Minaya for signing guys like Johan Santana and Jason Bay to ridiculous contracts, before locking up your young homegrown talent, but everyone loved those deals when they happened. You can blame the Wilpons for everything, but what happen with Madoff just sucks… It’s hard to explain how all these things can happen to a franchise, but as Mets fans we have seen it all.
So to sum up my point of “Who cares about Jose Reyes”, is exactly how it sounds. He’s just another one of those players the Mets had. What will booing him do? He doesn’t care. What would cheering him do? Probably nothing. So as Jose Reyes walks to the plate in his first game back at Citi Field, I am going to just sit there, and make it no different than any other player in the MLB.

I definitely did not like the Bay deal, but I expected it. I was psyched for the Santana deal, but was concerned about his ability to fulfill his contract. That is exactly how I’d feel if the Mets signed Jose.
