Obviously the biggest story tonight is if Johan Santana can get back to his pre-no-hitter self. Since throwing the franchises first no-hitter Santana is 3-4 with a 5.67 ERA in 39 innings pitched. Terry Collins doesn’t think the no-hitter is what has effected him, but I do think the no-hitter does have some sort of mental or physical effect on him right now. However, I think Santana can get out of this hole, and help this team start winning games again.
Lucas Duda, who has only 8 hits in his last 16 games, has to start getting it going from the batters box. His defensive skills are horrible, so if he can’t help this team with his bat, I don’t know what they are going to do with him. His batting average has dropped to an ugly .246, and has been looking foolish at the plate recently. especially tonight, where the Mets have sub-par hitters batting 6,7,8, Duda has got to drive in runs and get on base.
The Three Studs: Ruben Tejada, David Wright, and Ike Davis have been animals with the bat lately. In the last 10 games these three studs have 36 combined hits. If the Mets want to continue their winning ways moving into the late days of July, these three stars have to keep raking in the hits.
Most importantly, Let’s Go Mets!!!
