Mets Get Screwed: Dickey isn’t starting the All-Star Game, and that’s not fair

Classic… The Mets get screwed. Dickey gets screwed… Matt Cain is a good pitcher. Congrats to him. He’s had a great year. But, the best pitcher in all of baseball right now is Robert Allen Dickey, just like how the best third baseman is David Wright. So why are the Giants being favored over the Mets? The Giants have had a solid last couple of years, and the Mets have not. Sandoval and not Wright? Cain and not Dickey? Do the baseball gods hate the Mets?

Take a look at this: Matt Cain’s line is 9-3 with a 2.53 ERA. R.A. Dickey’s line is 12-1 with a 2.40 ERA. Dickey has 123 strikeouts, while Cain has 118 strikeouts.

Believe what you want to believe, but the bottom line is that the Mets, once again, got screwed.

David Wright is a potential MVP candidate. Kung Fu Panda is not–no argument. Dickey is a 37 year old knuckleballer, who bounced around the minors for over a decade. Cain is a 27 year old conventional pitcher, who has always been very, very good.

So R.A. Dickey, please know that all sports fans want you to start and think you deserve to start–except those stupid Giants fans.

I don’t buy anything La Russa says. Buster Posey, the starting catcher for the National League, should be able to catch Dickey. In fact, the starting catcher and starting pitcher have more time to prepare together than a backup catcher that enters the game with R.A. later on.

The Mets got screwed. There’s nothing else to say. This sucks. Without even mentioning Dickey’s amazing story, he has been a better pitcher than Matt Cain. That’s all…

Since there is no case to even state that Cain’s season has been better than Dickey’s, what we left with is a retired manager, LaRussa, who has no business being here, overanylizing yet another situation to the point of an unfair position.
