The New York Mets (43-36) defeated the Dodgers (43-36) once again last night by the score of 5-0. The Mets have now taken the first three games of this four game series.
Winning Pitcher: Johan Santana (6-4, 2.76) was the winning pitcher for the Mets last night. Santana pitched eight innings allowing just three hits, two walks, and had three strikeouts. Santana was brilliant once again, and it was the 4th time this season that Johan and Dickey have thrown back-to-back shutouts.
Losing Pitcher: Nathan Eovaldi (0-5, 4.61) was the losing pitcher last night for the Dodgers.
The Mets jumped ahead of the Dodgers by a score of 2-0, after two sacrifice flies. Daniel Murphy had one and Josh Thole had the other.
Big Hit: Ike Davis broke the game open in the 6th inning with a monster homerun to centerfield. It was the best swing I have seen from Ike all season, which was a very good sign. He is definitely way out of the slump that he was in earlier this year. Here is the homerun:
