It was time for Fernando Martinez to move on

Back on December 19, Mike Puma of the New York Post reported that the Mets were “considering unloading” Fernando Martinez.

At the time I thought it was a ridiculous choice, saying:

“What…? That makes no sense at all. If you think that the Mets are even considering “unloading” Fernando Martinez, you are just not thinking straight.

They should keep Martinez because he is young, he was once a top prospect, he is a talent, and he is cheap.

If they get rid of F-Mart, the Mets’ front office is incompetent.

By the way, if you read my last post, here’s yet another Martinez related to the New York Mets.”

I admit it. That stuff about incompetence was definitely an overreaction.

I have since changed my mind. He is always injured, and recently when he has not been injured he has not played well at all. The few times he has been in the majors he has not performed, and F-Mart really was just all hype. Yes, he has talent, maybe some potential too. But, that’s it.

Good luck to F-Mart. I hope everything works out for him. But, in all honesty, I don’t think it will.

Also, F-Mart isn’t a good nickname—-just saying.
