The New York Mets (25-21) look to beat the San Diego Padres (17-30) today at Citi Field. The game will begin at 1:10 PM and can be seen on PIX 11.

Starting Pitchers:
LHP Johan Santana (2-3, 2.47 ERA) will take the hill for the Mets. Santana is 203 with a 2.47 ERA, and he’s a starter… That’s quite rare. Remember, the Mets’ hitters don’t hit when Johan is on the mound, and the Mets’ relievers don’t pitch well after Johan leaves the game. I think that a guy with a 2.47 ERA deserves at least a W-L percentage of .500. Hopefully the rest of the team helps him out today.
LHP Clayton Richard (2-5, 4.63 ERA) will take the hill for the Padres this afternoon. In games that Richard has started, the Padres are 3-6. Hopefully the Mets lineup, full of righties today, can hit Richard today.
Game Notes:
- Today’s Mets lineup is bad. Kirk, Murph, and Baxter have been so good this season. I understand the concept of benching lefties versus a lefthanded pitcher, but this is a bit much. Ike Davis had a solid night last night too.
- SCORELESS INNINGS FROM THE BULLPEN… MAYBE?
